DENTAL COSTS
The cost of
dental work for individual horses varies greatly.
Basic
fees:
- Farm
Call: $50 basic farm call within 50 miles, split
between horses. Over 50 miles, add $1.00 per mile for
fuel surcharge, outside of the 50 mile
radius.
- Ferry
charges / toll charges will be added.
Incentive
options for organizers:
- The farm
call fee is waived for groups of six or more horses.
Fuel surcharges still apply outside of the 50 mile
radius.
- The
organizer of 7 horses gets $125 off of their bill.
- The
organizer of 13 horses, gets $250 off of their
bill
- Pre-scheduling
your annual maintenance during your current visit,
will be rewarded by waiving the cost of a 5-way
vaccination (Tetanus, E&W Encephalitis, Rhino and
Flu) on each horse scheduled on your next visit.
Make sure that we are aware of your efforts as you set
up the appt.
- Sedation:
$50.00 Initial injection. Some horses are well enough
sedated for the whole procedure, which will normally last
approximately 40 minutes, and some will need additional
injections. This seems to be a very individual condition
and one we are unable to anticipate.
- Basic
Exam: $95.00 A thorough physical exam is done to the
outside of the head, looking for unusual swellings or
tenderness. The inside of the mouth is carefully
observed, again looking for any swelling, discolorations,
or other abnormalities that could indicate a problem. A
periodontal exam is included, using a dental mirror and
dental pick to assess the gingival and periodontal
health, check for interdental spaces, loose teeth, tooth
decay and fractures. The overall health and condition of
the teeth and the supporting tissue are considered.
- Maintenance
Float: $95.00
The annual maintenance touch-up of the molars and
incisors for horses that we have worked on within the
last 13 months and placed on an annual check up
basis.
Individual procedures are priced accordingly. Those
different procedures include hook reduction, sharp points
on molars, wolf teeth, incisor reduction and realignment,
bit seat placement, periodontal debridment and treatment,
fillings, etc. The prices also reflect the amount of work
to be done with those individual conditions. Contact us
for details.
Tetanus protection is required, either that the horse has
had a tetanus shot within the last 8 months, or we can
administer at time of treatment. We carry all vaccines
with us, if the owner desires to do yearly/seasonal
vaccinations at that time.
With all the variables inherent to doing this type of
work on horses of varying ages, needs and sizes, an
average, first time work-up usually runs about $340 to
$380. The initial visit is by far the most expensive,
as that is when the majority of corrections are made.
When the horse is considered to be on an "annual"
basis, yearly consistent dental treatments amount to a
sedation + exam + maintenance float = $250 -
$280.
We use a dental chart that chronicles the particular
dental condition of your horse and the work that was
done. We refer back to your horse's chart in subsequent
visits, giving us an overall understanding of how your
horse's mouth wears and what his needs tend to be and
what to be watchful for.

We accept Visa and
Mastercard.
